Turning a new pool into a true backyard showcase in Knowlton New Jersey

When a homeowner in Knowlton, New Jersey had a new pool installed, they came to JBS Landscaping with a clear vision. They wanted more than a basic patio, they wanted something unique, beautiful, and built to entertain. We worked with them to design and install a one-of-a-kind outdoor space centered around their new pool.
The centerpiece of the design? A custom dragonfly inlay built into the paver patio, complete with illuminated eyes using In-Lite lighting.
Here's What We Did...
This project covered a large footprint with detailed stonework, thoughtful grading, and creative inlay design. Here's what we completed:

- Backfilled and graded the entire pool area with 200 tons of ¾ stone to prevent future settling
- Built a custom natural stone wall with steps down to the pool area
- Installed bullnose Bluestone coping around the pool for a clean, finished edge
- Laid 2,000 square feet of pavers, blending textures and shades for a natural look
- Created a herringbone inlay with integrated In-Lite lighting
- Designed and installed a custom dragonfly inlay using multiple paver styles and colors, with In-Lite lights for the eyes
- Installed planting beds filled with glacier rock and hand-selected plants to reduce debris in the pool area without sacrificing natural beauty

We used a mix of high-end materials from Techo-Bloc, Nicolock, and Unique Lighting Systems, chosen to deliver both function and flair.

These plants were selected for their visual appeal and low maintenance, while helping reduce leaves and debris blowing into the pool.
